Traffic Project Engineer (Lincoln, NE or Omaha, NE)

Description

 

We seek a full-time Traffic Engineering Project Engineer who would support our Omaha, NE, and Lincoln, NE offices. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can communicate effectively with managers, clients, and team members.  The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of traffic engineering expertise. Additionally, this candidate will:

 

  • Lead a traffic engineering design effort with a focus on public works projects
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local public agencies and be a contributor to the creation of proposals
  • Produce design plans and specifications for traffic control plans for highway and local road construction, traffic signals, maintenance activities, striping and detours
  • Analyze data for vehicle speed, traffic signals, pedestrian safety, parking, and other traffic operations studies
  • Development of alternate highway routing and traffic control plans for incident management response and emergency railroad/highway at grade crossing closures. 
  • Ability to conduct traffic engineering analysis for intersections, impact studies and signalized corridor progression analysis and signal timing

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an EAC/ABET, CEAB-accredited engineering program, or program that meets the NCEES Engineering Education Standard or related degree
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation
  • Working knowledge of traffic engineering software, such as Synchro or SIDRA
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering and transportation planning principles and practices as applied to private developments and municipal public works
  • Demonstrated team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Traffic, Transportation, or Civil Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Nebraska
  • PTOE certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of start date
  • Fifteen years of progressively responsible experience
  • Knowledge of the NDOT Standards, Omaha Regional Design Manual and/or related regional standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subdivision developments and site planning
