Nebraska Cancer Specialists is a subspecialty practice of 13 collaborating physicians who are devoted to oncology (tumors and cancer) and hematology (diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs). The Physician Liaison job duties may include, but is not limited to:

  • Develops, researches and implements strategies to increase public relations for referrals and expand presence in key referring segments, e.g. physicians, hospitals, agencies and other healthcare providers.
  • Fosters and manages positive and professional relationships with physicians, hospitals, agencies and other healthcare providers in the local market and promote NCS services.
  • Creates and establishes systems, generates and evaluates the public relations solicitations for measuring the impact strategies initiatives on referrals. 
  • Ensures business goals aligns with the overall marketing goals and philosophies of the practice.
  • Leads positive public relations campaigns and awareness efforts to the local community.
  • Works collaboratively with NCS physicians, Practice Administrator, management and others to gather feedback, research and execute communication strategies to increase provider referrals of patients to NCS.
  • Develops and implements specific outreach, relationship building, and marketing plans to meet NCS goals.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments that interact with physician offices, hospital medical affairs, referrals, and provider recruitment and provider resources.
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing communications with referring providers and their office staff, including routine or follow-up visits, emails and phone calls.
  • Identifies tactics to promote provider interactions and engagement including new provider orientations, site visits, staff meetings, social events, grand rounds, referral dinners, CME’s and other communication methods.
  • Gathers and interprets data necessary to determine priority areas for growing referrals.

Experience and Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, healthcare administration or another business related field is required.
  2. Master’s Degree preferred.
  3. Recent and direct experience working in a communications position within a sales or marketing environment may be substituted in lieu of education.
  4. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with physicians, providers, medical practice staff, or other medical specialties required.
  5. Must have a strong professional presence, excellent communication skills with experience in public speaking.
  6. Excellent organization skills.
