Certified Nursing Assistant Trainee, seeking full-time hours, Lincoln
                                                                                                                                                                                     
JOB OVERVIEW

  • Participate and complete a designated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class scheduled by Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals.
  • Responsible for following the training and attendance standards outlined the 76 hour CNA course.
  • Successful completion of CNA course, hybrid or on-site, is defined as passing the quizzes that correspond with 18 sections with a 70% or higher and achieving a â??passâ? score on the checkoff of 42 skills.
  • Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures.
  • Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Hybrid course: Complete academic institutionâ??s CNA on-line and skills training as outlined by the institution scheduled to provide training.
  2. On-site Course: Complete the academic institutionâ??s classes and skills training as outlined by the institution scheduled to provide training.
  3. At completion of CNA course the Nurse Aide Trainee will complete all necessary requirements to set up and complete state testing which includes the written exam and skill checkoff.
  4. Communicate with Nursing Education Instructor or hiring Director regarding any concerns or questions that are related to the CNA class, including any change to course attendance.
  5. Attend CNA classes as required according to course outline.
  6. Communicate to Nursing Education Instructor(s) and co-workers in a respectful manner to maintain a positive customer oriented approach.
  7. Receive directions from Nursing Education Instructor throughout the CNA classes in order to meet all requirements to successfully complete the course.
  8. Follow instruction from Nurse Educator, supervisor and/or licensed nurse during clinical hours to perform functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the class and department.
  9. Maintain and ensure a safe environment during the course including clinical hours on the patient care floor. Handle and operate all necessary equipment and perform required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
  10. Follow infection prevention processes to ensure cleanliness of equipment and environment.
    Medical devices used in work, include but not limited to:
    stethoscope/sphygmomanometer                        
                transfer/repositioning devices                               
                Oral/Tympanic thermometer                                  
                beds, wheelchairs                           
               


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Medium work with frequent lifting.  Manual patient transfer or reposition which does not exceed the equivalent of 35 pounds of force to lift, push or pull. Requires sufficient strength to produce 50 pounds of force to push a wheelchair with a 300-pound individual on level surfaces. Constant walking with maximum duration of up 30 minutes sustained walking on tile, carpet and other surfaces. Must tolerate frequent standing with sustained periods of up to 1 hour on tile, carpet, and shower surfaces. Must tolerate frequent sitting with sustained periods of up to 1 hour.  Frequent reaching with both arms at low, waist, and high levels. Frequent grasping of both hands for transfers and repositioning requiring normal grip strength based on national averages. Frequent stooping, bending, and twisting are required for patient care. Constant near visual acuity to evaluate and monitor patients.  Ordinary hearing and speaking skills.  May be exposed to biohazardous materials.



    QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)
  • Ability to successfully complete approved Nursing Assistant training course and pass state written and clinical exams.
  • Successful completion of academic institutionâ??s background checking required.
  • Background checks are conducted.
  • When specific authorization forms are requested so that full background and history can be obtained, employees/applicants must sign the form(s) requested.
