JOB OVERVIEW
Position responsibilities include providing input and assisting with operational management of the Movement and Neurosciences Center (the âÂ?Â?CenterâÂ?Â) in accordance with the mission and policies established for the Center and the Madonna Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering (the âÂ?Â?InstituteâÂ?Â). Responsibilities include implementing productive translational research that is driven, in large part, by the goal of advancing physical rehabilitation outcomes (function, independence, quality of life, long-term health and wellbeing) for individuals recovering from COVID-19 and other complex neurologic and orthopedic conditions. Responsibilities include fostering productive, collegial relations between the Institute, Center, Department and Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals (the âÂ?Â?HospitalsâÂ?Â) as well as external individuals and organizations including academic institutions and grant agencies. Responsible for developing independent and/or collaborative areas of research that closely align with MadonnaâÂ?Â?s strategic plan including the COVID-19 Model System of Care, identifying and securing external funding to support select areas of research, and supervising assigned staff and volunteers/interns/externs to advance research and clinical activities. Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(INFORMATION)
Assist in development and ongoing refinement of the Center�s Strategic Plan including the vision, mission, long and short term goals, and plan of action.
Collaboratively develop areas of research across the Institute�s Centers that support Madonna�s strategic plan.
Contribute to the execution of the Center�s and Institute�s research and development activities including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Generate scientifically-sound and clinically relevant research proposals.
Identify and pursue external funding at both the local and national level to provide support for research that aligns with the Hospital�s strategic agenda.
Guide the dissemination of clinically-relevant, scientifically-sound research findings to communities of interest including patients, clinicians, students, academicians, researchers, grant agencies, and donors.
Produce regular and special analyses reports outlining the progress associated with the Institute�s and Center�s goals.
Maintain confidentiality of all research subject data and treat all research clients in accordance with guidelines for the protection of human subjects.
Analyze physiologic and nutritional data in an applied healthcare context and guide development of evidence-based practice for select populations.
Modify therapeutic interventions to accommodate the age and health status of the patient/client/research participant.

Advocate for the Center, the Institute and Hospital at local, national and international venues to further the mission of the Institute.
Develop and maintain productive collaborations within the organization and external to Madonna with researchers, clinicians, patients, academic faculty and students in order to generate clinically meaningful and achievable research investigations relevant to the Center�s research agenda.
Create a culture of technology innovation by promoting clinically based discovery and use involving front line clinicians of varying disciplines.
Provide consultation to individuals and departments involved in Center and Institute related initiatives and research in the form of collaboration and consultation with respect to study design, data analysis and communication of research results.
Assist with preparation and conduct of Institute-related public relations activities, tours and conferences.
Follow instructions from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and/or system.

Assist the Director of the Institute in the development of the research infrastructure required to achieve the Center�s goals and objectives.
Assist the Director of the Institute in the management of the Center�s resources, budget, personnel, processes, and procedures.
Operate personal computer, printer, photocopy machine, audiovisual equipment, an automobile and other equipment to perform duties to meet Center�s and Institute�s goals and objectives.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe environment. Handle and operate all necessary equipment and perform required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
Maintain CITI training compliance.
Maintain a current CPR card.
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in exercise physiology or related field and three years� exercise physiology experience that includes work with populations with disabilities and/or chronic health conditions. Demonstrated expertise in research design, analysis and reporting in an applied clinical setting. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a highly collaborative multi-disciplinary environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. CPR for Health Care Provider/CPR for Professional Rescuer. Preferred experiences include nutritional science background and capacity to apply and interpret exercise physiology assessments (e.g., metabolic, isokinetic, endocrinology).
