JOB OVERVIEW

 

Responsible for the understanding of nursing and clinical needs to optimize the design and conduct the build of Clinical Information Systems. Responsible for analysis, planning, development and implementation of the patient care needs in the Clinical Information Systems. This position maximizes the potential within the Clinical Information Systems to enhance the delivery of quality care and patient safety provisions according to Madonna's philosophy and mission. This position works with nursing functional groups, clinical therapy functional groups and Information Technology Services staff. Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

(INFORMATION)

  1. Contributes to the development of the Clinical Information Systems with workflow process, design and build.
  2. Understands the clinical areas needs to utilize program and facility policies and operational definitions to ensure quality care delivery through utilization of the Clinical Information Systems.
  3. Understands system integration and electronic information system data to optimize the design of input and output for maximized value in Clinical Information Systems.
  4. Develops patient care safety processes including alerts and components related to risk indicators, rehabilitation outcome indicators, high acuity indicators, emergency care and return to acute care in the Clinical Information Systems.
  5. Integration of quality management to establish evidence-based practice to improve patient care through the capabilities within the Clinical Information System.
  6. Assists and supports clinical staff in developing and maintaining competency in the planning and change processes with the Clinical Information Systems.
  7. Serves as a liaison with clinical areas and IT to communicate, design, develop, plan, problem solve and coordinate improved clinical workflow processes and outcomes related to delivery of patient care through optimizing capabilities in Clinical Information Systems.
  8. Assists in the training of clinical staff for the Clinical Information Systems.
  9. Participates in the functional claims and evaluations of the proposed Clinical Information System solutions.
  10. Ensure clinical application software systems maintain satisfactory levels of quality and functional effectiveness and are designed, built, tested, implemented and operated in accordance with established requirements, policies, standards and procedures.

(PEOPLE)

  1. Provide project guidance and leadership for the Clinical Information Systems and/or custom software integration, development and enhancement for technology information systems encompassing requirements gathering; work processes and information flow analysis; project scope, objectives and constraints definition; software solutions planning; user training and participation with application life cycle activities.
  2. Provide recommendations with project plan development.
  3. Motivate and align key process stakeholders within clinical staff.
  4. Function as a change agent, with strong initiative and leadership skills to articulate value to the clinical staff and capitalize on the abilities of the Clinical Information Systems to enhance workflow processes and deliver of patient care.
  5. Ensure satisfaction of clinical staff by providing timely planning, consultation and advisory services on application systems analysis, evaluation, integration and other clinical system information.
  6. Participate with the activities of project team members during analysis, integration, development, enhancement, implementation and/or production support activities.
  7. Maintain atmosphere of teamwork by communicating with all levels of management, clinical staff, interdisciplinary teams and other stakeholders. Share information and expertise and consult with various project team and support members to coordinate Clinical Information System activities.
  8. Ensure integrity of company data, proprietary information and related intellectual property by adhering to company information security and access management policies.  Monitor data processed to ensure the security, integrity and reliability of computerized information systems and communications systems.
  9. Provide consistent and excellent customer service at all times.
  10. Follows instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and/or system.

(THINGS)

  1. Maintain and ensure a safe environment for the department.  Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
  2. Must be able to operate copier, telephone, fax machine and have proficient computer skills, including e-mail, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet functions.
  3. Ensure assigned projects are completed on time and within budget.
  4. Ensure an understanding of and adherence to company and divisional goals, strategies and priorities.
  5. Adhere to company information security and access management policies to ensure security of the enterprise application software inventory, associated data and development environments and ensure Madonna system and patient information remains confidential.


QUALIFICATIONS

 

AssociateâÂ?Â?s or BachelorâÂ?Â?s Degree in Nursing or healthcare field required. Experience in nursing/clinic time working in a hospital with a Clinical Information System is preferred. Must possess effective leadership and organizational skills, creativity and analytical skills.  Requires excellent oral and written communication skills. Considerable problem solving, coordination and interpersonal skills are required to perform the planning, consulting and communicative responsibilities of this position.  This position requires the ability to work independently and within a team environment in an effective and efficient manner.
