Yoga Instructor - ProActive, on-call as needed to teach evening classes

Job Title: Yoga Instructor

Status: Non-exempt                      
Instructs and leads yoga classes and workshops in a safe manner using proper movement patterns, body mechanics, and properly arranged cues and sequences. Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.
  1. Maintains and reports on class participation utilizing guest and member sign in structure.
  2. Prepares and executes high quality programming for safety and effectiveness.
  3. Markets group fitness, exercise and Yoga classes to new and existing members. 
  1. Provides a safe, motivating and enjoyable fitness environment using professionally accepted Yoga techniques and props. 
  2. Ensures all participants perform in a safe fashion in regards to intensity, body mechanics, space/distance, and according to the class program.
  3. Instructs class on how to self-monitor intensity through perceived exertion, pulse checks, or heart monitors.  
  4. Develops new sequences to ensure Yoga classes are motivating and appropriately challenging. 
  5. Cues to the room.  Delivers a non-denominational class that is respectful of the membersâ?? needs for progressions, regressions and modifications, including for specialty populations.
  6. Supports and cross-sells all ProActive departments, programs and services. 
  7. Actively involved in ProActive special events and programs.
  8. Follows instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals of ProActive. 
  1. Properly operates sound system and equipment. Reports malfunctions and issues with sound equipment immediately.
  2. Effectively and safely utilizes yoga equipment and props, such as mats, blankets, bolsters, blocks, straps, etc. to provide the highest quality classes for members. 
  3. Assists in ensuring clean and organized class environment and equipment.
  4. Performs light maintenance.

Must have constant near visual acuity with ordinary hearing and speaking skills.  Frequent lift and carry of 25 pounds.  Constant movement such as walking while conducting classes. Requires frequent bending, squatting and stooping. Must tolerate occasional to frequent horizontal reaching with both arms. Frequent grasping of both hands requiring normal grip strength based on national averages.  Has potential for contact with body fluids or blood when providing emergency care.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)
Prefer certification from a nationally recognized agency.  Experience instructing yoga classes preferred.  Completion of registered yoga instructor training program required.   Yoga certifications preferred include, but are not limited to, 200 hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) training accredited by Yoga Alliance, International Yoga Federation, International Association of Yoga Therapists, YogaFit or another recognized RYT training.
CPR/AED certified required.
