Job Title: Yoga Instructor                                                         Job Code: 773007 
Immediate Supervisor:  Fitness Manager                                    Status: Non-exempt                         
 
DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW
 
Instructs and leads yoga classes and workshops in a safe manner using proper exercise, body mechanics, and properly arranged cues and programs. .  Responsible for quality service delivery with internal and external customer satisfaction for Madonna as a whole while upholding Madonna√Ę??s mission and values.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
(INFORMATION)
  1. Maintains and reports on class participation utilizing guest and member sign in sheet
(PEOPLE)
  1. Provides a safe and enjoyable fitness environment using professionally accepted  yoga techniques.
  2. Ensures all participants perform in a safe fashion in regards to intensity, body mechanics, and according to the class program..
  3. Instructs class on how to self-monitor intensity through perceived exertion, pulse checks, or heart monitors.
  4. Develops new sequences to insure  yoga classes are motivating and challenging.
  5. Supports and cross-sells all ProActive departments, programs and services.
  6. Actively involved in ProActive special events and programs.
  7. Takes instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals of ProActive.
(THINGS)
  1. Properly operates sound system and equipment.
  2. Effectively and safely utilizes yoga equipment such as mats, blankets, bolsters, blocks, straps,  etc. to provide the highest quality classes for members.
  3. Assists in ensuring clean and organized class environment and equipment.
  4. Performs light maintenance.
  5. Maintains a clean, organized and safe environment.  Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
 
Must have constant near visual acuity with ordinary hearing and speaking skills.  Frequent lift and carry of 25 pounds.  Constant movement such as walking  while conducting multiple classes daily. Requires frequent bending and stooping. Must tolerate occasional to frequent horizontal reaching with both arms. Frequent grasping of both hands requiring normal grip strength based on national averages.  Has potential for contact with body fluids or blood when providing emergency care.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)
 
Prefer certification from a nationally recognized agency.  Experience instructing yoga classes preferred.  Completion of registered yoga instructor training program required.   Yoga certifications preferred include, but are not limited to, 200 hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) training accredited by Yoga Alliance, International Yoga Federation, International Association of Yoga Therapists, YogaFit or another recognized RYT training.
 
CPR/AED certified preferred.
 
Background checks are conducted.  When specific authorization forms are requested so that full background and history can be obtained, employees/applicants must sign the form(s) requested.
