DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW

 

Responsible for marketing communications, public relations, brand management, digital media and media relations strategy development and implementation. Responsibilities include promoting a positive public image and advancing Madonnaâ??s efforts to raise awareness of our programs and increase volumes. The specialist must have experience across an array of media channels â?? video, online, social and traditional. Position will have primary responsibilities for assigned marketing communications and public relations functions. Requires a high level of knowledge, imagination and originality and ability to use discretion and judgment as it pertains to strategy development and implementation. Collaborate with leadership and others in the organization to achieve brand consistency, coordination of messages, and the highest standards of external communications. Works in a team environment to achieve facility and/or business goals. Develops strategy and implementation plans to achieve measureable results. Understands both earned and paid media strategies and how to employ them. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility. 
 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

(INFORMATION)

  1. Develops marketing, public relations and digital media strategies to achieve Madonna corporate goals within budget and with measurable goals.
  2. Collaborates with team members for content development for external marketing content including quarterly Independent magazine and annual Madonna calendar, as well as the website, Facebook and other social media channels.
  3. Collaborates as part of the marketing team for contributing to the development and execution of internal communications.
  4. Produce and/or collaborate with team members and leadership in the development of video to support patient stories and public relations needs,
  5. Strong media relations skills, interacting with local, regional and national media.
  6. Write press releases and prepare information for the media.
  7. Pitch patient stories and respond to requests from the media, maintaining the organizationâ??s corporate image and identify.
  8. Work with marketing team to promote and adhere to content management strategy that sees the department developing content and repurposing it over multiple channels.
  9. Conducts patient and staff interviews and researches information for publications, releases and articles utilizing strong writing and editing skills
  10. Prepare staff for media interviews and provide feedback as necessary.
  11. Contribute to the implementation strategy to grow organizationâ??s social media presence on Facebook and other emerging social media platforms.
  12. Adheres to Associated Press standards for news articles, revising as necessary with guidance from Madonna staff.
  13. Participates in and communicates with internal Madonna committees as assigned to ensure employees are aware of hospital initiatives and projects.
  14. Coordinate all aspects of the end-to-end video production process from storyboarding, scripting, and logistics. Film and/or collaborate with team members to produce, edit and upload to video channel.

  3. Keeps abreast of changes in Madonna's services and products and initiates updates into Marketing request system.
  4. Strong media relations skills, interacts with local, regional and national media utilizing knowledge and independent judgment and discretion on best approach.
  5. Follows instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and system.

    1. Ability to think strategically, initiate concepts and ideas to enhance marketing, media and public relations capabilities of the department.
    2. Ability to operate personal computer, printer, calculator and other office equipment to produce articles, publications and other written materials.
    3. Maintains and ensures a safe and clean environment for the department. Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
    4. Willing to learn new marketing/communications techniques, strategies and implementation technologies.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

 

Sedentary work - occasionally lifting and/or carrying up to but not to exceed 20 pounds.
Indoor work primarily. Mobility required for travel to scheduled events or meetings as needed.  
Must be able to carry photo and video equipment as well as printed promotional materials including banners. Must be able to adjust work schedule to meet the demands of interviews, travel, special projects and special events.
 
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)
 
Requires Bachelorâ??s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field OR Associate degree with emphasis in marketing, communication, journalism or related field and two years related and applicable work experience. Additional four years applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Requires excellent design, news and promotional writing and editing abilities and implementation and organizational skills. Requires experience in communications, public relations or marketing.  Healthcare experience or related knowledge preferred. Dedication to the mission of Madonna. Must possess demonstrated ability in oral and written communication, and media pitching. Ability to operate photographic and video equipment, and video editing software preferred. Requires working knowledge of personal computers, desktop publishing and word processing software. Must be a self-motivated, be a creative thinker with the ability to work in a timely manner, both independently and as part of a team. Requires two years of work experience in a related field. Valid Nebraska driverâ??s license and proof of good driving record required.
 
Background checking is conducted on applicants for this position with the agencies as required by Nebraska State regulations, in addition to any other agencies as determined by Madonna.  Applicants must sign authorization forms (when required by the agency) to release information to Madonna.
