JOB OVERVIEW

Responsible for the medical regimen for his/her assigned inpatient caseload.  Will assist administration and development teams with the development and restructuring of inpatient programs; maintain a good relationship with all treatment teams. In addition, he/she will be a primary community liaison developing and expanding community and regional physician relationships.  Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for the department and Madonna as a whole, including the mission and values for the department and facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Synthesize, coordinate and analyze planned program changes/additions to current inpatient programs, offering input regarding recommended direction reflecting the Medical Services component of patient care.
2. Coordinate, analyze and compile patient information in medical documentation of history and physicals, orders, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with state, facility and JCAH guidelines.
3. Synthesize and coordinate patients' medical and rehabilitative status at time of discharge from Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital to apprise primary physicians and enhance continuity of care.
4. Provide consultation as requested in preadmission setting and communicate findings to parties served.
5. Mentor, negotiate, instruct, supervise and communicate with patients to meet medical and/or rehabilitative needs while they are in any Madonna facility.
6. Supervise and communicate patients' information flow to insure involvement of primary physicians during patient's stay in Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital and at time of discharge.
7. Mentor, instruct, negotiate, communicate and receive information with treatment team members regarding patients' individual plan of care.
8. Negotiate, persuade, communicate and serve assigned committee duties and actively advise and negotiate with administration in regards to program development and marketing.
9. Mentor, negotiate, instruct and communicate with staff to insure compliance with policies and procedures, as well as goals and objectives, and to insure delivery of quality service.
10. Follows instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the departments and/or system.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from accredited school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine and completion of accredited residency program in internal medicine or combined internal medicine pediatrics.  Board certification required within two years of completion of training and maintained.
