I. DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for researching, implementing, installing, evaluating, diagnosing and maintaining Local Area Network (LAN), Wireless LAN (WLAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Storage Area Network (SAN) including hardware and software components and related technical service and support policies and procedures. Responsible for the availability, security, and stability of the Madonna network. Responsible for developing, implementing, testing and maintaining disaster recovery plan. Develops and maintains network access and security procedures. Responsible for diagnosing and solving network, server, and client computer based hardware and software problems. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for the department and Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and Madonna.

III. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Sedentary work â?? Must be able to cope with stress of deadlines and working in a small, physically close and fast paced office. There will be the need for an occasional extended day. This position physically demands much sitting, some walking, stooping and medium lifting (5 â?? 75 pounds).
Requires sufficient vision to see and read handwritten numbers/material and computer printouts, and must be able to view the computer screen a majority of the day. Requires sufficient hearing and speaking to communicate efficiently via telephone or in person with others.
Indoor work â?? not exposed to outside elements or hazards except for travel to remote sites.
Mobility required to travel to scheduled events, other work sites, or meetings as needed.
IV. QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)
EDUCATION -Required
Bachelors degree in computer science, MIS, engineering, teaching, or network design and support discipline; or the applicant must have an acceptable combination of education, IT industry certifications, and comparable work experience. Competency specialization in either Cisco or Microsoft networking technologies is required. See Professional Licensure below.
EXPERIENCE - Required
Four years experience as Network Engineer working directly with LAN, WLAN, WAN, and SAN data communication technologies as they apply to corporate networks. Experience in TCP/IP networking protocols, and Ethernet topologies.
SKILLS - Required
Considerable problem solving, presentation, coordination and interpersonal skills are required to perform the planning, consulting and communicative responsibilities of this position. This position requires the ability to work independently and within a team environment. Must be self-motivated, demonstrate excellent organizational skills and problem solving abilities. Must have the ability to work in demanding situations without adverse reaction and interact in a positive manner with staff and public, either in person or by electronic communication. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
Must have current valid Nebraska driverâ??s license and proof of good driving record required.
