The Madonna Proactive Group Fitness Instructors are critical to a positive member experience! Fitness Instructors are responsible for teaching fitness classes in a safe manner, using proper proper exercise, body mechanics, and properly choreographed and cued routines. They are responsible for quality service delivery with high member satisfaction while upholding Madonnaâ??s mission and values.
Provides a safe and enjoyable fitness environment using professionally accepted group fitness techniques. Develops new routines and choreographies to insure fitness classes are motivating and challenging.
Instructs class on how to self-monitor intensity through perceived exertion, pulse checks, or heart monitors.
Ensures all participants perform in a safe fashion in regards to intensity, body mechanics, and according to the class routine.
Properly operates sound system and equipment. Effectively and safely utilizes fitness devices such as steps, weights, bars, balls, punching bags, noodles, kick boards, water resistive devices, etc. to provide the highest quality classes for members.
Maintains and reports on class participation.
Communicate to patient, family and co-workers in a respectful manner to maintain a positive customer oriented approach.
Supports and cross-sells all ProActive departments, programs and services.
Actively involved in ProActive special events and programs.
Takes instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals of ProActive.
Assists in ensuring clean and organized class environment and safe equipment.
Performs light maintenance.
Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Must have constant near visual acuity with ordinary hearing and speaking skills. Frequent lift and carry of 25 pounds. Constant movement such as walking or swimming while conducting multiple fitness classes daily. Requires frequent bending and stooping. Must tolerate occasional to frequent horizontal reaching with both arms. Frequent grasping of both hands requiring normal grip strength based on national averages. Has potential for blood or body fluids when providing emergency care.
Certification from a nationally recognized agency is preferred. Experience teaching land and/or water group fitness classes preferred. Completion of instructor training program preferred. Group fitness certifications preferred include National Arthritis Association, YMCA Group Exercise and Water certifications, Aquatics Exercise Association (AEA) and/or Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) or another recognized group exercise certification as International Dance Exercise Association. CPR/AED certified preferred. Background checks are conducted on applicants for this position with the agencies as required by Nebraska State regulations, in addition to any other agencies as determined by Madonna. Applicants must sign authorization forms to release information to Madonna.
