DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW

 

The Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans, which include work with internal and external audiences to develop new relationships with referral sources including physicians, hospital discharge planners and other various groups. This includes education to providers of programs and services, coordination of educational offerings and process improvements to meet referral source needs.  The Development Coordinator possessing an RN licensure will perform evaluations for admission to hospital programs.  LPN licensure will collect basic objective and subjective data from observations, examinations, interviews and written record.  This information will be recorded in pre-admission assessment as directed and signed off by the Director of Admissions or designated registered nurse.  Success will be measured through customer feedback studies and referral statistics.  Admission and conversion goals.  Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for the department and Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

(INFORMATION)

  1. Track and analyze physician referral data for inpatient programs in order to spot trends and assist in developing response plans.
  2. Track and analyze visits to referral sources including type of contact, issues identified, people involved in problem solving and resolution.
  3. Develops strategies to increase volumes from assigned hospitals.
  4. Must track referral sours lists in Raisorâ??s Edge.

(PEOPLE)

  1. Coordinate education of Madonna programs and services to referral sources.  This includes printed materials as well as personal visits.
  2. Coordinate handling referral sources' complaints/problems with staff to respond to needs in a timely fashion.
  3. Develop working relationships with potential referral sources by attending meetings and special events targeted to referral sources.
  4. Take instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve goals within the departments.
  5. Must perceive customer relations as a primary focus, and continually strive to satisfy the needs of every customer in all areas of the work force.
  6. Develop and update marketing plan in assigned areas.
  7. Provide timely feedback to new referring physicians on the status of their patients.
  8. Perform patient assessments as required.         

(THINGS)

  1. Communicate regularly to Madonna staff regarding referral relations statistics and results of marketing visits.
  2. Utilize the computer to organize information.  This includes word-processing, spreadsheets, database, internet and E-mail.
  3. Maintain and assure a safe environment for the department.  Handle and operate all necessary equipment and perform required duties according to the established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and to prevent injuries.
  4. Operate a motor vehicle to carry out marketing tasks.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

 

The Development Coordinator must have a diplomatic demeanor and be able to present the facility and its services in a professional manner.  The Development Coordinator must constantly demonstrate a dedication to addressing consumer needs and must be able to differentiate those needs among diverse consumer groups. The Development Coordinator must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, articulate and professional manner.  Must be self-motivated to seek opportunities to expand Madonna's referral base and satisfy referral source needs.  Must have excellent negotiating skills.

 

The Development Coordinator performs essentially sedentary work, lifting 20 pounds occasionally.  May have to transport presentation materials and booths to special events, as well as set up the booth.  Provides and operates motor vehicle and travels as necessary in order to contact and service clients.  Mobility required to travel to scheduled events or meetings as needed.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/training and/or Experience)

 

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current RN license from the NE State Board of Nursing and a minimum of 3 years applicable work experience required.  General knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid programs and basic knowledge of indemnity and managed care insurance preferred.  Must possess effective skills in negotiation, conflict management, and consensus building. Must possess well-developed written and verbal communication and problem solving skills.  Must possess and maintain current licensure/certification in area of clinical practice.  Current drivers license and good driving record required. Must submit a copy of current drivers abstract reflecting a good driving record.
