Job Description


The physicians and staff at AAIA, strive to provide the highest quality of care to patients seeking treatment for allergies, asthma, immunologic conditions, and other related health needs.  We have been serving the Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding communities for over 40 years. 

We are seeking a billing professional to join our centralized billing department.  Primary responsiblities for the new team member will include reviewing and submitting claims, and actively working to resolve insurance claim denials. 

Candidates for this full-time position should have a strong attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, and critical thinking skills. 

Primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Coding and billing of charges for services rendered
  • Resolving insurance claim denials and filing appeals
  • Investigating unpaid claims
  • Navigating practice management system and analyzing reports, in order to perform job duties
  • Maintaining strong, professional relationships with physicians, fellow employees, patients, and external customers


  • Interpret progress notes and accurately codes office charges in a timely manner
  • Review and process claims electronically, assuring accuracy to avoid denials
  • Work with physicians and coding personnel to resolve coding issues
  • Consistently "work" denied and outstanding claims to resolve issues; file claim appeals as needed
  • Assist with audits (as needed) to capture lost charges and determine the accuracy of billing
  • Accurately post insurance payments, both electronically and by manual entry
  • Communicate with billing manager to discuss and resolve reimbursement/billing issues
  • Interpret insurance explanation of benefits for posting and follow-up.
  • Utilize monthly aging accounts receivable reports to follow-up on unpaid, aged claims
  • Assist patients with insurance and billing questions
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) a plus
  • Understanding of medical terminology, especially allergy/immunology procedures
  • Working knowledge of medical billing software
  • Understanding of Medicare/Medicaid rules and regulations, and CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Understanding of private insurance rules and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team member and as a team leader
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Pleasant, respectful, and empathetic demeanor
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in an accurate and effective manner


  • HS diploma or GED required

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays.  We offer competitive wages and a range of benefits.
