Position Summary 

Under regular supervision. Accurately records, communicates and files results. Ensure proper operation of the equipment of the area of Process by planning, tracking, inspection and develops plans for preventive, predictive and / or corrective maintenance. Participates in equipment installation, new production line development, and construction projects. Evaluates and recommends types and vendors for any type of instrumentation and controls. 

Quality and safety minded, reliable and dependable, conscientious, precise and self-motivated. The incumbent must be able to plan ahead, multi-task, be diligent in filling out all paper work, be willing to follow all safety procedures, GMPs, and SOPs, and perform other duties as assigned.

 Essential Functions 

Strong working knowledge and experience in these required applications and protocols:

  • Electrical, Mechanical, Programming, High Speed Packaging and Processing Equipment
  • Advanced Computer - Windows, Excel, Word, Visual Basic, and AutoCAD Electrical
  • Instrumentation - Level, Temperature, Flow, Conductivity, Calibrations
  • Allen Bradley Software - RSLogix 5000, 500, RSLinx, Factory Talk View ME, RSNetworx
  • Allen Bradley Hardware - ControlLogix, CompactLogix, SLC, Micrologix, PowerFlex VFDs
  • Basic Networking - Ethernet, Controlnet, Devicenet
  • Electrical Safety - Electrical safety 480VAC, Arc Flash,   Mechanical Safety, LOTO, Food Safety 
  • Electrical Control Panels - Assist in design and building of panels
  • Wonderware / Wonderware Historian experience a plus


Troubleshoots, calibrates, and tests malfunctioning (pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical) components on high speed machinery systems, and process control systems.

Inspect, and perform system operational checks on high speed machinery systems, industrial control systems, and instrumentation systems.

Analyze and provide assistance in repair of components using conventional and digital multi meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters and hand tools.

Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test components and technical publications. 

Assist in design and building industrial control panels for control upgrades, or for new equipment and processes 

Assist, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production lines and associated assigned systems.

Adhere and keep documentation, according to all established HACCP, SQF, KOSHER and internal guidelines.

Coordinate with supplier, Production, Quality and other Engineering personnel activities to improve procedures and resolve problems.

Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work across multiple tasks.

Maintain professional and courteous manner at all times.

Suggest changes in working conditions and use the equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department and/or maintenance crews.

Assists in keeping work area clean

Performs all operations according to all established Safety Policies, Good Maintenance Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures. 

Communicates effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner with supervision and all internal departments. 

Work safely and follow all safety rules, regulations and laws. 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Minimum Education Required: Associates degree in, electronics, instrumentation or a closely related field, High school Diploma or equivalent with technical or trade school automation.
  • Two years of related experience in industrial instrumentation and controls, preferred.
  • Must pass entrance competency exam if needed.
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical diagrams, blueprints, drawings, P&IDs and technical service manuals.
  • One to three years work experience in industrial automation and control desired.
  • Food Industry/Dairy Industry experience desired.
  • Must have experience with general office equipment, Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • This position requires regular and prompt attendance during the working hours scheduled by the Department Manager.
  • Weekend work may also be required in addition to the ability to work ON CALL off hours and rotating weekends. Schedules may be subject to change, based on business need.
