This individual will assist in managing the day to day operations within the transportation function.
Duties and Responsibilities
Confer with customers about services, tariffs, specific transport conditions, advisable packaging and organizing freight to destination.
Calculate costs, and provide data and feedback for Key Performance Indicator (KPIs) and analysis.
Identify and plan the most appropriate routes and means of transportation; taking into account, cost and capacity availability.
Carry out orders, i.e. dispose, arrange and monitor transportation and storage, and keep track of shipment through all phases of the journey.
Develop relationships with customer and carrier bases.
Contact carrier representative to arrange and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of goods in accordance with customer requirements.
Obtain, prepare, issue and check transportation documents to meet requirements and compliance as needed.
Assist clients in the event of a claim (e.g. damage, loss, overage).
Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices or orders to verify accuracy and validity of claims.
Undertake clerical and administrative work.
Strong working knowledge of SAP WMS system.
Manage location control.
Maintain high levels of accuracy in inventory integrity and daily operations.
Use all available systems for communications with internal and external partners.
Demonstrates understanding of financial impact of decisions. Actively shares core business knowledge and processes to leverage team.
Uses appropriate resources, analysis, experiences, judgment, and wisdom to make timely, sound business decisions.
Prioritizes continuous improvement opportunities and develops teams proficiency in continuous improvement methods. Monitor continuous improvement metrics.
Establish and implement methods and best practices to build and support a lowest landed cost warehousing and distribution network. Use of Transportation Management System to optimize lane rates and routes.
Develop and execute a sourcing strategy to meet the companys business growth and sourcing requirements.
Select and cultivate a relationship with regional distribution centers
Develop and manage a forward deployment supply chain network
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Education Required: High school diploma. Bachelors degree preferred.
Three years experience in transportation and logistics environment or equivalent experience substitute.
Ability to work in a constantly changing, fast paced production environment
Able to work effectively with all levels of employees including plant personnel to senior management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to meet production and operations needs.
This position requires regular and prompt attendance during the working hours scheduled by the Department Manager.
Knowledge of warehouse procedures.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Strong SAP experience is a must.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
