Starting wage: $16.67-$18.57 hour

Position Description

 

Areas of Responsibility: Function in the LPN role in the provision of health services within the  WIC Program. Serve as WIC Outreach Coordinator.

 

 

 

Major Duties:

 

 

 

  1. Complete medical history and care plan for prenatal, postpartum, infant, and child WIC certification in accordance with the State of Nebraska and local WIC procedure manuals.
  2. Provide nutrition education counseling and breastfeeding support to WIC clients based on identified nutritional risk factors and individual needs
  3. Provide referrals to physician’s offices, dental clinics, and programs such as Medicaid, Food Stamps, and ADC.
  4. Promote breastfeeding as an integral part of the WIC Programs.
  5. Accurately document and maintain records according to the Nebraska State WIC guidelines and CAPWN agency policies and procedures.
  6. Act as a family advocate, coordinating with other appropriate available resources in the community. Represent WIC at monthly Planning Region #13 Early Development Network meetings.
  7. Serve as WIC Outreach Coordinator, promoting awareness of WIC benefits to physicians’ offices, Day Care Centers, HHS, etc.
  8. Maintain confidentiality of records and communications.
  9. Participate in the Performance Measurement and Improvement (PMI) activities.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • 90% office environment with clinic interaction with the public
  • 10% training and meetings.
  • In and out of town travel.

 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Requires periods of typing and sitting at desk.
  • Fine manipulation of hands with repetitive action.
  • Operate office machines.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Must regularly talk, hear and have close vision ability.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

 

 

Grade: 10

 

  1. LPN with valid Nebraska license.
  2. Current CPR Certification.
  3. Proficient level of oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with individuals of diverse ages, abilities, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and sexual orientation.
  4. Age 21 or above
  5. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

 

 

 

Grade: 11

 

  1. Must meet minimum qualifications above;
  2. Three years of clinical nursing practice, preferably in obstetrics, pediatrics, or public health.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pertinent Information:  A pre-employment drug test is required.
