SUMMARY

Provide maximum customer service and satisfaction for customers of the produce department enhancing the profitability of the department by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Ensure that customer service 10’ rule policy is enforced throughout the department and store.
  2. Greet and assist customers in a friendly, positive manner and assist them with any special requests or questions.
  3. Assist in unloading produce trucks and rotating product in proper storage areas. Check in product signing and coding invoices.
  4. Trim and wrap needed produce items in a neat and timely manner.
  5. Understands crisping program.
  6. Rotates and stock produce cases with new product.
  7. Complete general housecleaning such as dumping garbage and sweeping and mopping floors and assists with cleaning racks and coolers.
  8. Must be very knowledgeable with all products in department to help customers with questions they might have.
  9. Must be able to identify shrink and cull rack appropriately for increased sales and profits for company.
  10. Use forklift, pallet jack and garbage disposal, and bailer safely and within guidelines. Follow all safety guidelines for the produce department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of the company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with a calculator.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
