Job Description

The Prevention Services Department at Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare has a position available for a Prevention Specialist who will assist in the coordination of the Region 6 prevention system.  The Prevention Specialist is responsible for technical assistance and training services for community prevention coalitions in the Region 6 service area which covers Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy and Washington Counties in Nebraska.  This position will coordinate grant activities with funded partners, maintain accurate records of services and evaluation measures, and be knowledgeable of best practices and strategies in underage drinking prevention.  This is a grant position funded through September 30, 2023. 

A bachelor’s degree in health education, human services, community organization, or a related field and one-year experience in behavioral health and/or health education required.  Knowledge of current substance abuse prevention strategies and theory highly encouraged.  The candidate must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.  Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current auto insurance are required.  The successful applicant must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.  Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare participates in the E-Verify system.
