POSITION SUMMARY: This position manages the daily activities of a department within the Distribution Center by scheduling and assigning workflow, checking work for accuracy and analyzing and resolving work issues. Supervises the daily activities of the department, including personnel, production, and costs, initiates personnel actions as necessary, such as conducting performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, recognition, and safety issues.
SCHEDULE: SUNDAY - WEDNESDAY or THURSDAY - SATURDAY. Shifts may change depending on business need.
Salary commensurate with directly related experience.
Essential Job Functions:
Manages daily activities of the department personnel by scheduling and assigning workflow, checking personnel's work for accuracy and production rates, to decrease costs within the department. Creates schedules based upon volumes and staffing, assigns job duties for daily workflow.
Monitors and tracks employees' daily performance, which includes performance appraisals and coaching employees on production and accuracy.
Works individually with associates to assign job as needed, answer questions, check performance, provide feedback, and recognition.
Enforces personnel and operations policies and procedures. Makes recommendations and carries out personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, terminations, disciplinary measures, and training to ensure efficient department operations.
Promotes and monitors safe work practices and good housekeeping and makes decisions and resolves safety issues and concerns. Investigates safety accidents and near misses and makes recommendations for improvement.
Monitors inventory levels, accuracy of computer transactions and records, and implements process improvements within area.
Meets requirements for budget, service levels, and production and makes recommendations for continuous improvements. Reviews workflow and departmental practices and procedures and makes recommendations for improving efficiency. Assists project teams with new work practices or special projects.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
2 to 4+ Years
Previous supervisor experience
Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Must be able to read documents, printouts, reports, computer screens and other written communication. Match sku and merchandise identifying information between computer screen, pick tickets, collates, and product labeling.
Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with customers and co-workers.
Must be able to stand and/or walk to fill and process orders throughout the warehouse locations.
Must be able to stock or pull product at various racking levels from floor to overhead, use step-stool or ladder.
Must be able to place product on/off conveyor, trucks, shelving, etc.
Must be able to write, type on keyboard or touch screen, and use phone system. Grasp product to move from one location to another.
