PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the identification, research, writing, of government grants;
  • Strategizes grant requests with grant team and program leadership;
  • Communicates grant compliance requirements to Grant Compliance Specialist following award;
  • Coordinates with Grant Compliance Specialist and project teams post-contract to ensure understanding of grant goal targets and needed inputs for reporting;
  • Works as part of HFHO’s Development team to achieve revenue goals to support the organization’s current and future initiatives;
  • Communicates funding designations and restrictions as required by the grant contract;
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure a positive public image and improve organization function.

 

Requirements

SUPPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with grant strategy;
  • Maintains awareness of other affordable housing efforts in the community and how HFHO might align;
  • Supports the compliance monitoring strategy for all grant funding sources;
  • Provides grant writing support, as needed, for HFHO’s foundation and corporate grants.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in English, Writing, Public Administration, or related  field, or equivalent work experience in grants and contract administration;
  • 3+ years of experience writing government grants, preferably for an affordable housing nonprofit
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under and manage multiple deadlines concurrently;
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local government grant application process preferred;
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Pro, and a high level of comfort with other digital tools 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Regular and punctual attendance is essential;
  • Ability to work independently or cooperatively in a team environment.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work involves sedentary to light work in an office setting. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. 

 

REPORTING: 

  • The Grant Manager reports to the Organizational Senior Project Manager
