Position Purpose:


The Leave Specialist will facilitate and administer ongoing associate leave requests and inquiries, review worker's compensation claims, support the tracking of leave status within the payroll system, maintain documentation of processes relation to tracking leave, and remain in compliance with all federal and state laws as well as Signature Performance policies.




This position reports to the Manager of Human Resources.


Essential Job Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicate with Associates regarding leave and/or modified work schedules and process all leave requests in accordance with federal and state law, as well as Signature Performance policies.
  • Administers FMLA, STD, LTD, and workers' compensation organization wide. Remains informed on Signature Performance Benefit offering specific to paid and unpaid leave options.
  • Administers leave management system and remain point of contact in facilitating leave as necessary.
  • Administer leave of absence paperwork to associates, collect and process upon to return to HR.
  • Communicate with associate and manager of approval of leave of absence
  • Coordinate with payroll team to ensure proper payment of leave and/or use of benefits for associates on leave.
  • Facilitate return to work plan and engages directly with associates, managers, and HR Business Partners to ensure proper communication and approvals have been met.
  • Review accommodations requests under and in accordance with The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Administer other company time off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all communications on leave and requests.
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodations laws, including FMLA, ADA and state and local laws.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.





Knowledge & Experience:

  • 1-2 years' experience with Leave Management, Human Resources, Benefit Administration experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent years' experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA and other applicable laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and critical thinking problem solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Completion of FMLA/Leave certification or training on FMLA/Leave


General Areas of Accountability:


Must conduct business and personal affairs in a manner that is always a credit to the company. Must maintain a good credit rating while employed with the company.


Machines and Equipment:


The incumbent must be able to effectively operate the current computer system, telephone system, and other office machines such as copier and fax machines.


Physical Activity:


The incumbent must be able to finger, grasp, feel, see, sit, hear, and speak. This position is sedentary in nature with minimal lifting requirements.




The incumbent works in an office environment that is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions such as heat, cold, or extreme noise. Routine periods of being on the phone utilizing a headset, sitting and data keying are required.


Remote Eligibility: This position is Ad-hoc remote eligible. Eligibility is determined by Management or Human Resources.
