Business Development Executive Job Description:

The purpose of the Business Development Executive role is to create and maintain positive relationships with healthcare entities across the country in order to enhance patient care through supplemental staffing. This is a sales position and is considered “exempt”. If overtime hours are worked, there is not additional pay for overtime.

Essential Functions:

  • Prospect and contact new and existing Hospitals to determine any staffing shortages for traveling employees.
  • Through referrals, various lead sources, marketing ‘Hot Candidates,’ and cold contacts develop an ongoing strong network of Hospitals/Facilities.
  • Communicate, understand, and develop a relationship with various hospitals. Covering all areas of needs, contract, hospital requirements and billing.
  • Work daily with Career Consultants to match and present qualified health care professionals for placement in developed job openings based on hospital needs.
  • Organize potential candidates for openings based on loyalty, quality, and value to Medical Solutions.
  • Assist Operations staff and Career Consultants in accessing, organizing and sending pre-employment paperwork from placed travelers to facilities.
  • Ongoing follow up with current facilities prior to, during, and after traveler’s assignment.
  • Work with Operations staff and Career Consultants to help resolve any issues with travelers (personal or professional).
  • This position involves independent negotiations with hospitals regarding bill rates.
  • This position also involves independent judgment in regard to the traveler qualification process.
  • This position is largely based on independent judgment and Business Development Executives are viewed as a single point of contact for our hospital clients.
  • The scope of responsibility for this position is supervisory in nature, not clinical in nature.

Job Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree OR 2-3 years of strong sales experience where 60% of compensation is commission-based.


  • Staffing Industry experience
  • Travel Nursing experience
  • Medical field or terminology background
  • Sales background (commissions)
