PMO Director

The Project Management Office (PMO) Director will join a fast-paced technology team to create a world-class PMO. We’re looking for an excellent communicator able to manage a portfolio of projects and resources. This position will lead the charge in creating a PMO, with the objective of standardizing project management functions and streamlining communication across the enterprise. The PMO Director will work with Agile Project Managers to translate business objectives into tangible tasks and objectives.

  • Establish the PMO structure, standards, processes, best practices, and success criteria
  • Define the PMO’s mission and communication strategy for supporting enterprise business units
  • Work with Agile Project Managers to ensure projects are completed on time and according to budget
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and growth opportunities for project management team
  • Foster a culture that promotes goal-setting, continuous improvement, flexibility, and problem solving


  • Be an enthusiastic leader with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
  • A minimum 5 years program and/or portfolio management
  • Experience leading a Project Management Office
  • Scrum Master experience
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in an effective, non-technical manner
  • Ability to positively influence others to achieve the results that are in the best interest of the organization
  • Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization
  • Ability to assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Proven self-starter and creative problem solver
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong orientation to execution?


  • 10+ years’ project management experience
  • Prior experience standing up a Project Management Office
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Scrum master certification (CSM)


  • In depth knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, both waterfall and Agile
  • In depth knowledge of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
  • In depth knowledge or understanding of the following software applications:  Microsoft Project, O365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
