A proven leader capable of navigating project roadblocks, executing strategy, and coaching and developing talent.  Evangelizes and supports the adoption of cloud technologies within IT and the business through collaborative and educational efforts.  Works in partnership with peers, technical SMEs, and executive leadership to develop a unified strategic approach to technology solutions that support business goals.


This position requires work in support of the Company's contract with the United States Department of Education (œED). As such, the United States Government requires that any applicant for this position must complete United States Government security clearance. Effective June 1, 2018, ED has informed Nelnet that security clearance applications for foreign nationals are not being accepted or processed. In light of this direction from ED, Nelnet will be unable to hire applicants without United States citizenship for such positions.


  1. Collaborates with business and technology leaders to drive results.
  2. Serves as a coach to movitvate and develop staff.
  3. Ensures adherence to security, best practice, and governance standards.
  4. Prioritizes work, develops strategic roadmaps.
  5. Reviews, evaluates, and prepares periodic performance reports of staff.
  6. Manages an annual budget.
  7. Establishes and maintains client or vendor relationships.



Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or commensurate experience.



  1. 3 to 8 years of experience in IT as a technical resource in areas of operations, security, or software development.
  2. 3 to 8 years of experience as a technical or development leader with a demonstrated ability of successful team leadership.
  3. Experience or good understanding of AWS or Azure public cloud is a plus.



  1. Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills.
  2. Demonstrated experience implementing organizational change.
  3. Strong communication, facilitation, and public-speaking skills.
  4. Creation of clear, concise, and compelling presentation materials for executive consumption.
  5. Ability to prepare and present cost benefit analysis and ROI evaluations.
  6. Excellent judgment.
  7. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  8. Demonstrated competency in resolving diverse and complex business problems.
  9. Strong managerial and leadership skills.
  10. Demonstrated aptitude in human resources.
  11. Must have the ability to obtain a security clearance.
