Overview

Evaluate operating procedures and financial transactions to ensure they are in compliance with company policy and generally accepted accounting principles' (GAAP).  Perform work assignments associated with the financial and operational aspects of the company based on risk assessments and priorities established by and under the direction of the Audit Services Manager. 

 

This role can be located in Lincoln, Nebraska or Madison, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  1. Participate in audits of various departments, locations, and processes to verify compliance of operations with prescribed plans, policies and procedures.
  2. Assist in evaluating processes and procedures for adequacy of internal controls.
  3. Complete audit program steps utilizing COSO objectives and components that address operational, compliance and financial activities.
  4. Utilize AutoAudit software to document audit procedures performed and maintain support documentation to ensure compliance with Audit Services Division Standards.
  5. Work with functional management and other members of the Audit Services Staff to work through questions that arise during the audit process.
  6. Assist in identifying and researching suggested improvements to areas being audited in order to reduce risk, improve compliance with related rules and regulations or ensure efficient utilization of company resources.
  7. Communicate the status of audit steps to the appropriate member of the Audit Services Staff.
  8. Submit completed audit programs to the appropriate member of the Audit Services Staff for review.
  9. Assist in making recommendations for improvements and modifications to systems and procedures of area audited.
  10. Assist in follow up audit procedures to ensure accurate and timely implementation of agreed upon recommendations.
  11. Assist in performing the appropriate audit work and providing the required documentation for the public accounting firm in association with the annual financial statement audit and other compliance audits.
  12. Assist other members of the Audit Services Division in completing assignments as needed.
  13. Establish and maintain working relationships with members of functional management.
  14. Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and exhibit a positive professional image. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Four year college degree in accounting/finance or business related field is required

Professional certification (CPA, CIA) or advanced degree preferred

 

EXPERIENCE:

Up to two years audit experience in a public accounting firm, internal audit department or related area preferred
