Analyzes, consolidates and interprets financial data. Participates in strategy planning and development of business plans, products, and pricing, including recommendations to help in decision making. Leading the development and maintenance of daily accounting & cash management tasks, including monthly financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, key metrics, pricing and profitability projects. Lead and coordinate all daily and monthly accounting & cash management activities, including invoicing and collections, customer cash management, vendor management, and new product accounting.
Lead and coordinate the preparation of segment financial reporting and consolidation of financial statements.
Develop payment processing expertise and guide changes in payment processing requirements and processes for client-facing payment products of NBS and PaymentSpring.
Coordinate all documentation of segment internal controls over financial reporting and all other documentation and support for financial audit and SEC purposes, including working with external auditors and examiners.
Assess and implement changes in generally accepted accounting principles for both the US and international activities. Implement new procedures and monitor of accounting and cash management processes and reporting for international businesses.
Participate in management decisions to better know the customers' needs and understand their goals and analysis & reporting requirements. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis or reporting for senior leadership as required.
Participate in product development to recommend system and service needs for accounting & cash management processes both for NBS and the customers. Develop proper controls within the system and processes to ensure protection of cash management processes.
Work with other members of senior management to develop processes for cash management and invoicing needs to better serve customers and when changes to systems/services occur.
Lead the development and enhancement of daily processes and workflows to allow for growth in business activities and additional business lines and improve process efficiencies. Assess Accounting and Cash Management workflow and process improvement ideas and guide changes (e.g. automation processes) to ensure efficiencies are maintained in processes in both Accounting and Finance tasks.
Act as liaison between NBS and Petersons Accounting/Cash Management and Nelnet Corporate Finance & Tax, SEC and Corporate Accounting teams as necessary. Ensure the team provides required information and analysis for SEC reporting, financial and SEC audits, tax research, special projects, or other ad-hoc requests on a timely basis.
Conduct performance reviews, staff training and development, manage workflow and other supervisor or management responsibilities as needed, including leading a team of accounting and cash management associates.
Assist the Director of Finance in the annual budgeting & forecasting processes managed by the Finance team.
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. Accounting degree preferred.
Advanced degree or certification preferred.
7+ years of related accounting and financial analysis experience, with a proven record of success.
3+ years of management experience.
5+ years of experience in financial services including payments or banking.
Project management experience.
Merger and acquisition experience and technical research skills preferred.
International accounting and cash management experience.
Auditing and compliance experience.
Knowledge of accounting and auditing theories and practices, both US and International.
Exceptional Excel skills and proficient in other Microsoft and other analytical tools.
