ALLO Safety Coordinator

Job Description

Provides safety training, coaching, and leadership for an underground and aerial construction operation. Duties include job site inspections, accident reporting, conducting group training sessions and tailgate meetings. Experience should be focused on telecommunication construction work. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of overhead and underground distribution electrical systems.

The responsibilities of this position include conducting safety training programs as well as updating and maintaining training programs to improve the safety of fiber optic line construction and operations. This position also includes conducting routine safety visits to enforce safety policies including PPE, and identifying specific job hazards and precautions at various job site locations.

  1. Maintain condition and operability of Emergency Response equipment.
  2. Investigates reportable accidents, injuries and job damages.
  3. Oversee/coordinate and monitor contract service/inspection of fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus, portable gas detectors and other applicable fire/safety equipment.
  4. Conduct/coordinate classroom and field training meetings as needed.
  5. Assist Operations and Maintenance Supervision in preparation of materials for monthly safety meetings.
  6. Serve as member of Incident Investigation committees on "as needed" basis.
  7. Additional duties as needed.


  • High School diploma
  • Accredited in safety, including OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR, and Smith System Trainer.


  1. 3+ years of experience in the utility construction business with a focus on safety.
  2. Strong understanding of electrical construction work. The ideal candidate will have experience working directly for a telecommunication company.
  3. Ability to perform audits and document findings of company procedures and practices.
  4. Must be an effective communicator, and computer literate with familiarity of MS Office.
  5. Spanish bilingual is a plus.
