Master Teacher

The Master Teacher is responsible for the training, coaching and supervision of the education staff.  This position will also be responsible for the coordination of referrals and services related to children with Special Needs or Mental Health concerns.  The Master Teacher participates in the interdisciplinary planning and coordination of the comprehensive developmental program ensuring individual needs of children are met as well as the program standards of Educare of Omaha, Early Head Start/Head Start, the Nebraska Department of Education and the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

This position is supervisory in nature and will be responsible for overseeing staff in 4-5 classrooms and will not be assigned to lead a classroom.

Educare of Omaha is a collaborative partnership between the Omaha Public Schools, Early Head Start/Head Start and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund.  The mission of Educare is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and their families.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree in Education (Early Childhood preferred) with certification to teach in field of early childhood education preferred; or

Bachelor of Science with a minimum of 18 graduate hours earned in ECE, Child Development or closely related field

  • Experience in teaching children birth to 5
  • Two years supervision/administrative experience in early childhood setting preferred.
