EAD Engineering is looking for a seasoned Process-Mechanical Engineering Manager to be responsible to plan, direct and evaluate the process engineering department in the design of a wide variety of industrial projects for public and private sector clients. With thorough knowledge of process and mechanical design and engineering techniques, this person will lead and work closely on assigned projects from planning, preliminary design, front end engineering, preparation of drawings, project management, contract administration, construction support, liaison with local authorities and as-built documentation. The Process-Mechanical Engineering Manager will set up processes and procedures and professionally and efficiently lead and manage a team of engineers and designers, providing superior technical knowledge and designs while consistently achieving overall department personnel growth and profitability. 

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for meeting the operating budget for the department, developing and executing goals for the department, and managing, developing and mentoring the engineers and designers on the team

  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures to maintain the company's competitive position and profitability

  • Business development and client management

  • Interface with external customers building relationships and assuring a strong customer focus

  • Monitor project budgets, workload, and staff balancing for the process-mechanical department

  • Work with multi-discipline engineering team, have internal and external clients and interact with other inter-company departments

  • Devise new approaches to problem solving, prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standards

  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents

  • Define the scope of supply and prepare technical bid packages

  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the engineers and designers via mentoring and training

  • Provide and oversee effective engineering designs to meet industry standards and client requirements

  • Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area

  • Ensure that on-site construction work is carried out per local regulations and requirements

  • Prepare construction cost estimates

  • Coordinate and prepare permitting documents for regulatory agencies

  • Coordinate with other internal team members on multi-discipline projects

  • Resolve design and development problems

  • Analyze project specifications to prepare time, cost, material, and labor estimates for engineering bids and for comprehensive engineering proposals

  • Ensure projects run smoothly and are completed within budget and on time

  • Responsible for quality and delivery of construction documentation

  • Capable and experienced in managing and performing projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Manage the daily operating/personnel activities of the department

  • Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality

  • Effectively build, lead, direct, mentor, and motivate a team of process-mechanical engineers and designers regarding skill development and professional growth with a goal of coaching staff to obtain P.E.

  • Drive for continuous improvement in the areas of safety, cost and efficiency

  • Responsible for adhering to all EADs safety standards and practices

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • 10 years of experience in process and/or mechanical engineering and design field

  • Licensed Professional Engineer 

  • Proven experience in Process and/or Mechanical Engineering design, and drafting practices and procedures

  • Experience managing projects from $10 million to $20 million in scope

  • Experience in working with multi-discipline projects with bioprocess and/or chemical clients, construction of large industrial plants, or power stations will be advantageous

  • Proficiency with current AutoCAD software release a plus

  • Skilled in wording technical specifications related to process and mechanical equipment and evaluation of bid results

  • Experience working with multi-discipline teams 

  • Working knowledge of Aspen or ChemCAD, Revit and Plant 3D is desirable

  • Comprehension and application of the industry standard codes  

  • Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to details

  • Ability to think methodically to design, plan and manage projects

  • Sound mathematical and technical skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and can interact effectively with plant operations from the maintenance level through and including the executive level

  • Demonstrated independent worker requiring minimal direction

  • Negotiating, supervisory, and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate

  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently to meet tight schedules and deadlines

  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task while working on numerous projects simultaneously

  • Knowledge of Food Safety Standards a plus

  • Possess and able to maintain a valid drivers license

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Working Conditions:

  • Office, plant, or client site environment*

  • Ability to sit and work at computer for an extended period

  • Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions

  • May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*

  • Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*

  • Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed

  • Travel required

*EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment as necessary.
