POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for advancing the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands through recruitment and marketing efforts.  Responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing plan as well as distributing any marketing collateral. Coordinates public relations outreach. Represents Big Brothers Big Sisters positively and communicates the mission and values of Brothers Big Sisters. Reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and works with the Chief Development Officer, Chief Program Officer, and Board of Directors to implement the marketing and volunteer recruitment plans for the agency.

This position serves as a member of the agency’s Leadership Team, staying abreast of organization-wide issues and contributing to the development and achievement of the agency’s long-term and short-term vision and strategic operating plans.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement the annual marketing plan.

Design and implement strategies and campaigns which increase the number of volunteer applicants through involvement with local businesses and organizations; engaging current volunteers; researching male-oriented public events; and consistently seeking relationships and partnerships with organizations and individuals to promote recruitment of Big Brothers, Big Sisters and Big Couples.

Coordinate media relations and related activities: schedule interviews for agency staff, volunteers, clients, and other supporters with television, radio, newspaper; write press releases; assist in preparing content for social media.

Plan, implement and oversee digital media presence.

Develop and maintain relationships with business contacts, current and potential volunteers for involvement and fundraising purposes through email, phone calls, face-to-face meetings and social events.

Coordinate and supervise work of the Marketing and Recruitment Coordinator and Partnership Coordinator.       

Collaborate with Enrollment & Recruitment Specialist and Latino Mentoring Coordinator on outreach and volunteer recruitment projects and events.

Oversee planning and implementation of volunteer recruitment events.

Attend, promote and assist with planning of agency events/campaigns held in the service area.

Adhere to agency beliefs and values in all job-related activities.

Facilitate the capture and documentation of agency stories & milestones to boost content marketing and donor/volunteer/advocate engagement strategies.

Participate in trainings and/or continuing education on relevant material for professional development.

Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

EDUCATION & RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Education Level:

 

Bachelors degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field; degree requirement may be waived for candidates with six or more years of relevant experience.

 

Years of  Related Work Experience :

 

 Five + years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or related fields. Experience in volunteer recruitment and stewardship with a non-profit helpful, along with previous supervisory experience. Must have car, valid driver’s license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.

Routine office environment.  Flexible work hours to meet customer needs.  Must travel to local communities and neighborhoods in the service area. Transporting, lifting and carrying of materials to event locations.
