Position Description

Operate industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move materials around a warehouse, storage yard, factory, or similar location to assist them in packaging and loading a wide variety of products and materials.

General Duties

  • Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices such as forklifts, lift beams, with swivel hooks, hoists, or elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, or stack material.
  • Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse or =facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.
  • Manually or mechanically load or unload materials form pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
  • Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, or boxes and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance on vehicles or auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.
  • Load packages onto delivery vehicles according to delivery schedule and weight conformance.
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met.
  • Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
  • Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools.
  • Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
  • Separate products according to weight, grade, size, or composition of materials used to produce them.
  • Tie products in bundles for further processing or shipment, following prescribed procedures.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Maintain storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.

Areas of Experience

  • One (1) years in warehouse experience preferred.
  • Forklift operation experience preferred.
  • Building industry knowledge preferred.

Education

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.

Job Requirements

  • Willing to obtain other training if deemed necessary in performance of responsibilities and continuing education.

Other Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of company products sufficient to look up/reference parts, products or component lists.
  • Knowledge of basic math and measurement skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote local, state or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Work is in a warehouse setting and may be performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
  • Employee must have clear, close vision for reading and computer work. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, stoop, grasp, talk, hear and operate computer keyboard. Job may require reaching at or above shoulder level and below waist. Will occasionally lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds.
