Position Summary

The Youth Care Worker is primarily responsible for the care and supervision of youth participating in Day Reporting at the Omaha Home for Boys. Youth Care Workers are responsible for implementing assigned treatment services, maintaining accurate documentation or services and ensuring that the daily routine of the program is upheld. Youth Care Workers will be expected to transport clients and develop collaborative partnerships with the referring agencies.

Essential Functions include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for daily supervision of clients and being aware of the whereabouts at all times.
  • Responsible for assisting in assuring all client needs are directly met along with supervising them in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Implement the daily program schedule, in addition to organizing and carrying out activities with clients throughout the scheduled shifts.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client identities, records and information.
  • All employees of the Omaha Home for Boys are considered Mandatory Reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law. Must understand and adhere to OHB policy and procedure for documenting and reporting any suspected child abuse or neglect.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with clients and demonstrate/ensure healthy staff to client working relationships are maintained.
  • Maintain courteous and professional relationships with supervisor, clients, client family members and referral agency staff.
  • Responsible for managing crisis situations professionally and following agency policies and procedures related to emergencies
  • Maintain complete and accurate records, incident reports, daily staff logs/vehicle logs. Answering and logging all telephone calls in a professional manner.
  • Attend family team meetings when assigned by direct team members.
  • Work in tandem with other Youth Care Workers.
  • Collaborates on cases with team members.
  • Meet with Community Services Manager for regular supervision.
  • Frequently goes into the homes’ of clients and transports clients while upholding safety standards.

Required Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of six months of experience in youth programs
  • Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the organization’s service population, both individually and in groups. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and current auto insurance, and the ability to pass an extensive background check.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location is required.
