We are seeking a self-motivated Accounting Coordinator to join our accounting team. With direction this position provides support to the Accounting and People Solutions Department including to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  Other functions may apply from time to time.  As required the position may be assigned to special projects.  Position requires a detail oriented person who is able to multi task and has had experience in managing highly confidential information.  Position will perform backup functions for various positions within the departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following . Other duties may be assigned.

  • Primarily responsible for understanding and being able to back up most accounting related and some business planning functions.
  • Responsible for updating procedures for all accounting department functions which may include some benefits related processes.
  • Must be able to analyze accounting processes and set up checks and balances which ensure segregation of duties within the functions of the department.
  • Responsible for auditing procedures within the accounting and office services departments.
  • Responsible for special projects as assigned.
  • Processes general ledger entries to include posting, coding and preparation of monthly entries; data entry to general ledger system as needed.
  • Conducts research as appropriate for support of the accounting area and other departments such as Office Services, Business Planning, Human Resources, and Educational Services.
  • Involved in Business Continuity Planning which may include the write up of Accounting and People Solutions department plans and testing.
  • Responsible for the coordination and execution of technical maintenance of the general ledger computer system and report writing tool.
  • Must be able to perform accounts receivable function including follow up and collection of outstanding receivables.
  • Must be familiar with accounts payable function and the entries that may affect the ledger.
  • Reviews and analyses cost vs revenue and makes recommendations on pricing and billings.
  • Assists with administrative duties as needed including backup function for front desk reception.
  • Assists with other departments as needed.
  • Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with emphasis in accounting required plus 4 years related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation is required.
