Job Description

St. Luke Child Development Center is currently looking for a part-time Office Assistant in our office.  Pay will be dependent upon experience.  Part-time benefits available dependent on number of hours worked.


St. Luke has a reputation of offering outstanding child care programs to Omaha families since 1964.  We are a large Center that provides care for 175+ children every weekday from 6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.


The Office Assistant will work weekdays from 1:00-6:15 p.m.



  • Answer office phones
  • Greet parent and visitors
  • Track children as they leave for the day
  • File Children’s Incident Reports
  • Copy checks before placing in safe at the end of the day
  • Support management as needed
  • Assist parents as needed
  • Clerical support to teachers as needed (making copies, filing lesson plans, etc.)
  • Maintain Parent Board including birthday stars for children/staff
  • Have a specific role in the emergency/security plan
  • Dispense meds and give breathing treatments
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Maintain certification in first aid and CPR and 6 in-service hours for state licensing
  • Follow St. Luke policies according to the Employee Manual and Operations Handbook, and other printed materials


Skills Required

  • Knowledge of Procare Software (prefer) and/or willing to learn new programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Ability to provide warm and supportive relationships with children, staff and parents
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with staff and parents
  • Professionalism on phone and dealing with parents and staff


Experience Required

  • At least 25 yrs. of age
  • Completion of high school or equivalent


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

With a capacity of 235 children the center is active every weekday.  The teachers supervise children; however, it is also important for the Office Assistant to keep the office environment safe and clean and follow all safety and health rules of the Center, especially when children are present in the Office.

  • Experience working in a child care center is preferred.
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills and possess good interpersonal skills.
