Job Description

Job Summary:

Qualified, detail-oriented personnel, designated by the VP of Research & Development, to initiate, conduct and coordinate stability testing on FDA validation batches and first production batches for the purpose of determining shelf-life/expiration date.

 

Principal duties and responsibilities: Set up documentation and samples for first production stability studies and OTC batches

  • Log stability study into Master Index and a tracking calendar
  • Pull samples for observation/testing at appropriate intervals
  • Conducts and documents testing within prescribed timeframe, as per designated SOP’s
  • Coordinate testing with other departments (Micro and Analytical) and outside labs when necessary
  • Ensure samples are returned to appropriate locations or disposed of when testing is finished.  Use Chain of Custody to track sample location and disposal.

 

Additional Expectation: Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

     Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory procedures, testing instrumentation, and experimental design and controls

     Advanced writing, reading and math skills including statistical analysis (college level and beyond)

     Ability to interpret, analyze, reason, and plan

     Must be able to think logically, multitask and assess and adjust priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines

     Basic clerical skills including data entry, PC and filing

 

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

     Customer service experience

     Intermediate clerical skills: filing, typing, PC expertise

     Specific training or experience in OSHA regulations and laboratory safety

     Oral and written communication skills should be at advanced levels

     Comprehensive knowledge of product development process (1-3 years’ experience in a product development environment)

     Training in Total Quality Management or Quality Control techniques

 

Minimum education and experience:

     Degree in Chemistry or Biology

     0-3 years’ experience in an industrial lab

 

Environmental conditions:

     Controlled office environment 80%; 20% in production area with some temperature extremes

     Frequent exposures to small amounts of hazardous chemicals, flammables, etc.

     Required to wear respirators, gloves, lab coats, goggles as needed
