Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is a competent professional member of the Together team.  Under the oversight of the Director of Administration, the Accounting Manager will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Together and will perform a variety of accounting-related functions to include but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.  The Accounting Manager serves as the first point of contact internally and externally related to the areas identified above and will conduct all communication in a professional manner.  The Accounting Manager will assist the Director of Administration as needed in other financial-related requests and tasks (e.g., annual audit).  The Accounting Manager will conduct him/herself ethically at all times and in a manner that reflects well on the organization.

Primary Position Responsibilities

  1. Ensure all payables and receivables are paid and collected in a timely manner
  2. Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner
  3. Process donations in donor management system and ensure entries post accurately to accounting software
  4. Enter journal entries as appropriate and ensure all revenue and expenses are charged to the appropriate restricted and/or unrestricted account(s)
  5. Track use of restricted grant funds
  6. Conduct various reconciliations
  7. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  8. Assist in the production of periodic and various financial reports
  9. Assist with audit conducted by external accounting agency
  10. Work collaboratively with and provide financial information to any of the Directors as requested
  11. Coordinate and order office supplies for all staff
  12. Assist Director of Administration as needed

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred (significant accounting-related experience will be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree)
  2. 7+ years of progressively responsible experience working for a non-profit (preferred)
  3. Proficiency in QuickBooks (preferred) or other accounting software
  4. Proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel
  5. Strong communication skills, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  6. Conducts all business activities with integrity
  7. Organized, timely, and an attention to detail
