Our company (the "Company") is seeking an experienced health care benefits paralegal or legal assistant to provide general support services for the Company in coordination with the Company's outside legal counsel.  Assignments will involve assisting with drafting health care plans for self-insured group health plans, drafting administrative services agreements, contract reviews, frequent compliance and health care law communication with clients, licensing renewals, subrogation coordination and other corporate legal support services as assigned. 

Our clients depend on us for legal and compliance support related to their self-funded group health plans.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Collaboration, mentoring and trust are key to the Company's culture. You should expect to work closely with the Company's leadership and outside legal counsel.

Key responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Drafting customized self-insured group health care plans for clients with the assistance of outside counsel.
  • Drafting administrative services agreements, business associate agreements and other client compliance documents.
  • Reviewing and negotiating broker and vendor agreements.
  • Assisting with client legal and compliance issues related to their group health plans and stop loss coverage.
  • Maintaining Company registrations and professional licenses as needed in various jurisdictions.
  • Responding to client or staff inquiries or support requests.
  • Maintaining legal records.
  • Communicating regularly with clients regarding compliance issues, including sending compliance updates and newsletters.
  • Completing assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner without reminders from Company leadership and/or outside counsel.
  • Coordinating and directing subrogation efforts.
  • Assisting with other related legal and compliance tasks as assigned by Company leadership and/or outside counsel.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or general education degree (GED).
  • At least three (3) years of health care and/or benefits related paralegal, legal assistant or legal support services experience.
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts of varying types.
  • Ability to draft legal and health care benefits documents under the direction of outside legal counsel.
  • Ability to meet and exceed established deadlines independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple legal assignments, meeting strict deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
