EAD is looking for a Mechanical Designer to develop CAD drawings and documents primarily for industrial projects. 


  • Prepare and provide industrial mechanical CAD drawings for a multi-disciplinary project teams

  • Confer with engineers and experts to interpret design concepts and determine type of detailed working drawings required for successful project execution

  • Develop detailed designs and specifications for construction according to engineering sketches and design proposals

  • Develop general arrangement layouts, piping drawings and HVAC or dust collection system drawings 

  • Effectively review and analyze specifications, sketches, engineering drawings, concepts and other related design data to determine factors affecting designs

  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce and/or eliminate project problems and physical interferences

  • Review and delegate project workflow to project team ensuring all timelines and goals are achieved

  • Coordinate work with other project team members

  • Interface with clients, utility companies, construction administrators, contractors and vendors

  • Develop and cultivate professional relationships for business opportunities

  • Responsible for adhering to EADs safety standards and practices

  • Perform other related duties as assigned


  • Associates of Science Degree in Drafting related field or combination of education and related experience required

  • Proven proficiency with AutoCAD Software (Release 2013 or newer)

  • 5 years mechanical industrial drafting experience required, including experience with site layouts, equipment general arrangement drawings, P&IDs, process piping layouts, piping ISOs and HVAC packages

  • Demonstrated advanced mechanical design skills

  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, ASHRAE, SMACNA, IBC, IPC, etc.)

  • Proven experience with piping or duct sizing and pressure drop calculations highly preferred

  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary drawing packages, including civil, electrical, process and structural drawings highly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to independently set priorities and organize work to meet project deadlines with minimal direction

  • Ability to multi-task while working on numerous projects simultaneously

  • Excellent written and verbal skills with clients and in-house staff

  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail

  • Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Working Conditions:

  • Office, plant or client site environment*

  • Ability to sit and work at computer for an extended period of time

  • Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions

  • May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*

  • Office, commercial and/or industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*

  • Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed

  • Travel required

*EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment as necessary.
