The Unified Communications Engineer position is responsible for configuration and administration of the Unified Communications systems within the enterprise. Systems within the enterprise include voice, video, call recording and chat. The engineer will be responsible for documentation of procedures, maintaining standards, and system configuration. Partnering with business units across the enterprise to provide troubleshooting and support for technical issues. This position requires the ability to work a 24x7 on call rotating schedule. The Engineer commonly works with the Administrator and Sr. Engineer, Infrastructure. The Unified Communications Administrator reports to the Sr. Manager of Unified Communications.


  • Plan, build/configure, deploy, monitor, maintain and support infrastructure, and contribute to the development of technical roadmaps
  • Evaluate hardware, software and utilities for efficient system performance
  • Responsible for providing Tier 1,2, and 3 Unified Communications support
  • Responsible for monitoring Unified Communications system in an enterprise environment
  • Responsible for performing physical audit and inspection of network closets and/or datacenters
  • Responsible in supporting team members with enterprise projects
  • Assist other team members with deployment of new Unified Communications infrastructure
  • Act as a liaison between Unified Communications and business units within the enterprise
  • Work with vendors to stay aware of changing trends in technology and build component level designs for new solutions
  • Professional behavior and promote positive working relationships
  • Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support


  • Performs routine assignments with minimal assistance from others

  • Some travel will be required


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • CCNA Collaboration/Voice preferred or comparable experience
  • Voice systems administration and configuration (Cisco and/or Avaya, Cisco Preferred)
  • Cisco Teams knowledge, a plus
  • Call Recording knowledge a plus
  • VoIP/SIP knowledge
  • Scrip[ting knowledge a plus
  • Network knowledge (WAN/LAN)
