The Phone System Developer is responsible for software development to customize, configure and extend the Interactive Intelligence telephony platform including explanation of system capabilities to the internal customers, application design and development, source code development, application flowcharting, database development, database integration, tracking of projects, cutover support, application troubleshooting/triage and follow-up support as required.    


Position Description


  • Working knowledge of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) technologies
  • Work with internal customers on projects through the phases of designing, building, deploying and acceptance
  • Work with internal customers as needed to translate design requirements into application solutions, ensuring the requirements are met according to standards and best practices
  • Communicate with department manager/client to identify application requirements
  • Ensures applications meet the standards and requirements of both the client and department manager
  • Conduct tests of the application for functionality, reliability and stabilization. Deploy/implement the application to the client
  • Maintain and support existing applications by fixing problems, addressing issues and determining the need for enhancements
  • Perform all tasks within the budget and on time while meeting all necessary project requirements. Communicates regularly if budget and/or scope changes
  • Core CIC handler development & maintenance
  • Monitor and respond to system errors
  • Follow-up and resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner
  • Update customer to reflect changes in system configuration as needed
  • Understand system hardware/software to be able to identify problems and provide a remedy
  • Handle Technical Assistance Center/Engineering escalations as directed by the department manager
  • Provide assistance as required including development audit, development review of best practices, etc.


Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the general industry procedures, practices and terminology including data processing system and application design methods, techniques and standards
  • Working knowledge of all stages of the phone system development lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of the Interactive Intelligence development platform
  • Working knowledge of with the Microsoft development platform
  • Working knowledge .NET Framework and integration services including XML, SOAP, REST, TCP/IP, JavaScript and HTML
  • Skill in negotiating and problem solving to resolve internal and external conflicts
  • Ability to think creatively around problems and identify creative solutions
  • Ability to provide technical support over the phone
  • Ability to approach and communicate with a wide range of personalities in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to engage in effective interpersonal interaction, verbal communication and written communication
  • Ability to actively contribute to team effort
  • Minimum of 4 year degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, MIS, or similar course area OR equivalent combination of education and work experience; with at least 3 years working experience as a Phone System Developer in a in a professional production environment preferred


Work HoursMonday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; Overtime as required to meet business needs.
