Primary Purpose of Job

The Fitness Trainers, under the supervision of the Fitness Center Director and Assistant Director, are key staff people responsible for the safety and comfort of all JCC members and guests using the fitness facilities. Staff must ensure all fitness facilities are in excellent condition, equipment is performing in state-of-the-art condition, and must be friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and available to members at all times. Fulltime Personal Trainers with the JCC will be benefit eligible (health, dental, life, discounted membership rates, and wellness programming) and could make $40,000+ per year (full time). *This is opening is for part time evenings*


Tuesday-Saturday: 5pm-10pm* 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or Related Field
  • CPR/AED Certified
  • ACE, NSCA, or ACSM Certified

Duties and Responsibilities

Promote the benefits of Personal Training to all members and guests through:

  • Being available to members at all times by your physical presence on the Fitness Center floor
  • interact with members on a friendly basis to ensure their comfort
  • Welcoming them as they enter the facility, or visiting with them while working out.
  • Perform Orientations for all new members of the JCC. This may include assisting the Fitness Center Director in making calls to new members to encourage them to make an appointment for their orientation.
  • Perform Fitness Assessments that include the following: a health history, body composition measurements, flexibility measurements, muscular strength and endurance measurements, and aerobic capacity as designated by the Fitness Center Director. Interpret results to implement an appropriate fitness program.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the individual to be physically fit in order to lead a wide variety of individual and group activities. Requires stamina to work long periods of time in a physically active environment.

The JCC is a fast paced environment with a high focus on customer service.

Customer Service Statement

The Fitness Trainer, along with all of the JCC staff, are responsible for providing excellent customer service to JCC members. He/she should be professional in all of his/her relationships with members and guests. He/she should take the time to learn the names of as many individuals as possible and to make sure that individual members are pleased with the services and programs provided by the JCC.
