Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Under the direction of the Court Services Bureau Captain or designee, the incumbent performs a variety of security duties to provide the greatest possible security and safety to employees and visitors of the Hall of Justice and the Civic Center.  Incumbent may be called upon to use deadly force to protect the employees and visitors of the Hall of Justice and Civic Center.  Incumbent will be properly trained and qualified with a department approved firearm. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  High school education or equivalent required. Individuals must have graduated as a law enforcement officer from a state law enforcement approved academy. Individuals may also be eligible if they have worked for a Federal Law Enforcement entity for a minimum of one year and are currently certified (as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer) or have worked in the Military Police for at least one year within the past five years. Completion of a criminal records check. Successful Completion of all qualifying certifications with an approved firearm. Individuals must complete required firearms recertification on a semi-annual basis. Individuals must successfully complete all required CPR and First Aid training within the first six (6) months of employment as well as completing subsequent CPR and first aid recertification. Individuals must successfully complete required Defensive Tactics Course as well as successfully complete annual Defensive Tactics recertification. Individuals must successfully complete a required Electronic Control Devices Course as well as successfully complete annual Electronic Control Devices recertification. Individuals must successfully complete any and all Entrance Screening Training as determined by the CSB captain.
