Director – Quality Assurance (QA)

The Director of Quality Assurance (QA) will be responsible for establishing QA system that promotes customer satisfaction, and positively impacts corporate performance through improved efficiency, productivity and quality.  This role will work closely within the Product organization with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering and Dev Ops to define and implement an overarching testing philosophy for D3.   This role will be responsible for leading a high performing team of QA Engineers, providing technical leadership and support to develop highly maintainable test plans, processes, and automation.  Identifying process automation opportunities in existing process and managing the design, development, and implementation of automated solutions are key factors to success in the role. In addition, knowing how to balance automation and manual testing efforts are necessary.  Being a constant champion learning both personally and organizationally by requiring their team members to grow their skill sets.  They will be accountable for defining, tracking and communicating key quality metrics to show progress towards the overall D3 quality goals.

  • Leading the QA system for D3 with a specific focus on the overall testing model
  • Work closely with the D3 leadership team on project plans and software delivery processes
  • Provide technical leadership and support to develop highly maintainable test plans and processes
  • Lead, mentor and coach QA Engineers on best testing practices
  • Define/refine QA standards and processes with both automation and manual testing efforts to meet the needs of a growing company
  • Foster continuous improvement using tools and QA metrics to meet quality goals
  • Provide leadership in testing techniques, QA innovation and industry standards to allow QA team to excel
  • Responsible for helping to grow team skills and career development
  • Develop a culture that encourages excellence and high job satisfaction

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years proven track record in software testing and/or experience managing a development team
  • 5+ years in software industry leadership capacity
  • Proven experience in software development process from initial requirements definition through development, testing and ultimately in to support
  • Software automation experience including familiarity with software automation design patterns
  • Software testing tool expertise (e.g. Selenium, Fitnesse and REST-Assured)
  • Hands on experience in testing various device types (mobile, browser, watch, etc)
  • Knowledge of continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment techniques and tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment techniques
  • Excellent understanding of software architectures and concepts
  • Strong leadership skills in coaching, mentoring, performance management and resource planning
  • Technical background (Java, databases, client-server architecture, programming) 
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Flexible, embrace change and adaptable to new, challenging situations
  • Self-start with ability to work in a fast-paced environment bringing new ideas and technologies into business
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and issues concurrently
  • Banking industry a plus
