Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the GAAP Valuation efforts associated with the quarterly financial close
  • Analyze and review the DAC, VOBA, and URR balances
  • Analyze and review the Shadow DAC and URR balances
  • Book General Ledger entries for DAC, VOBA, and URR, Shadow DAC and URR, and Non-Account Value Reserves
  • Calculate the FAS133 adjustment for indexed products by creating the Index Option Values Report
  • Reconcile GAAP Account Value reserves by creating Account Value Roll-forwards
  • Analyze and review the impact of GAAP assumption unlocking and model revisions on DAC, VOBA, and URR balances
  • Prepare ICFR documentation
  • Lead implementation of GAAP Valuation coding for new products in PolySystems
  • Assist in GAAP aspects of Deloitte audit and internal audit
  • Enhance, develop, and maintain documentation for GAAP Valuation models and procedures
  • Support efforts to improve and automate current processes 
  • Support GAAP Targeted Improvements project work
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and requests supporting the Valuation area as needed
  • Manage and help develop an actuarial student


FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Bachelors degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, economics, or related field
  • Fellow in the Society of Actuaries
  • 4-6 years of experience in life insurance, management experience is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage, prioritize, and satisfy the requests of a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including experience working with actuarial models
