Currently, we are seeking a talented Information Security Engineering Consultant )fulltime) to join the Corporate Division in Newport Beach, CA. The Corporate Division supports the goals and initiatives of all other divisions throughout the company and its subsidiaries. These departments include: Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Development, Public Affairs, Safety & Security, Legal & Compliance.


This fulltime role will play an integral role in defining, implementing and assessing the organization's technical infrastructure security solutions This role will provide consultative expertise to division and/or company regarding network and information security systems, utilizing knowledge and experience from years of progressive work in this field. Leads project teams in security design, defining security requirements, identifying suitable controls, documenting and implementing technical designs and providing oversight and guidance as necessary. Defines metrics and reporting strategies that effectively communicate successes and progress of the security program.
The successful candidate will be a security professional with several years of experience in this field and with a strong technical background. Must be strong in 2 of the following areas:Network Security, Cloud Security, Application Security, End Point security and/or data security.  Good knowledge in industry standard security frameworks and regulatory requirements such as NIST ISO, GDPR and NYDFS.
Ensure that a complete, accurate and valid inventory of all systems and infrastructure is conducted and logged by the security information and event management (SIEM) or log management tool.
Validate IT infrastructure and other reference architectures including Cloud security architectures for security best practices, and recommend changes to enhance security and reduce risk where applicable.
Validate security configurations and access to security infrastructure tools, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), web application firewalls (WAFs), anti-malware/endpoint protection systems, etc.
Conduct reviews of and oversee the change management function for security rulesets for the organization's firewalls
Validate that security and other critical patches to firmware and operating systems are configured and deployed in a timely fashion.
Review security technologies, tools and services, and make recommendations to the broader security team for their use based on security, financial and operational metrics.
Liaise with the business continuity management team to validate security practices for both disaster recovery planning (DRP) and business continuity management (BCM) testing and operations when a failover occurs.
Create security documentation including requirements definitions, risk assessments, high level and detailed design documents and risk and recommendation documentation.
Lead the efforts to migrate or integrate security services in Cloud SaaS and IaaS services
Lead security design efforts on projects and guide and collaborate with other members of the security team
Acts as 2nd or 3rd line support to assist in troubleshooting and problem resolution as required and called upon from time to time including out of hours support when necessary
A minimum of seven years in an information security role of which at least 3 must have been in a security design, architecture or consultancy capacity.
A bachelor's degree in information systems or equivalent work experience; an M.B.A. or MSCS is preferred and/or Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM are highly regarded
Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with business managers, IT engineering and IT operations staff. Must be capable of developing and guiding more junior team members.
Work in a collaborative style with Pacific Life personnel, build strong relationships at all levels and across all business units and organizations, and understand business imperatives.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
