Currently, we are seeking a talented Sr. Investment Accountant to join the Corporate Division based in Newport Beach, CA.  The Corporate Division supports the goals and initiatives of all other divisions throughout the company and its subsidiaries. These departments include: Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Development, Public Affairs, Safety & Security, Legal & Compliance.  The Director will join the government relations team of a leading financial services company celebrating 150 years of empowering success for its policyholders and clients.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Investment Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Performing monthly reconciliations of investment data to the GL on both GAAP and STAT bases
Providing financial analysis to the front office and divisions to support business decisions
Preparing quarterly and annual investment schedules and related financial statement disclosures
Proactively seeking to improve existing processes in order to meet new requirements and/or improve operational reliability and efficiency
Utilizing system applications to research and generate reports
Providing appropriate documentation and audit trail to support conclusions
Researching and resolving issues, exceptions, and outstanding items
 
Additional responsibilities include:

Financial statement review
Surveys
Management Reports
STAT to GAAP Reconciliation
PLIC Retrocession and Reinsurance Submission
Sub Equity Reconciliation
Reinsurance submissions
Write or maintain desk procedures
Provide training and/or serve as a resource for others

FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:

BS/BA Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience
CPA preferred
3-5 years of related experience (public accounting or insurance industry)
Demonstrated analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
Ability to work independently on assignments of various levels of complexity
Proven organizational skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and ability to collaborate with others to effectively solve problems
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office products and PeopleSoft.
