Actuarial Analyst (Valuation)

Job Description


As part of the Valuation team within the Retirement Solutions Division, you will be responsible for:
  • Production of quarterly financial information on statutory, GAAP, and tax reserves for fixed annuity liabilities in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the construction and maintenance of valuation databases and preparation of data for business analytics and ad hoc requests
  • Implementation of data controls and system improvements related to the valuation processes
  • Working with the team to analyze valuation results, including attribution analysis and actual-to-plan comparisons
  • Compiling responses to requests from State Department of Insurance, auditors, regulators, rating agencies, and other interested parties
  • Partnering with the Modeling team and external vendors to test version upgrades, assumption updates, and modeling provisions
  • Support for Model Risk Management initiatives, including documentation, peer review exercises, and other best practices guidelines
  • Interaction with other functional departments as needed

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, mathematics or related field or equivalent discipline
  • Passed 1-3 SOA exams toward the ASA designation; position is eligible for Actuarial Student Program but exempt from Student Actuary Rotation Program
  • Proficiency with SQL and database management systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of annuity products and financial statements
  • Advanced Excel, related programming (R, Python) skills a plus
  • Ability to deliver timely, organized and consistent results
  • Creativity and initiative in work product
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
