The Counseling Center Assistant Manager will coordinate patient care and provide onsite supervision of the daily operations of the Bryan Medical Center Counseling Center Clinic. The Assistant Manager assures the effective flow of patient care throughout the department, making sure that assessments, tests, procedures and care are performed in an efficient, effective manner. Coordinates activities of staff, making assignments in accordance with personnel scope of practice and competency. Works closely with care staff, physicians, families and patients to provide positive customer service. Initiates Service Recovery and addresses issues affecting service. Maintains high level of clinical competencies by periodically providing direct patient care.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

*Ensures efficient patient flow of patients from admission to dismissal; collaborates with other care staff and support departments as appropriate.
*Assists the Counseling and Program Development Manager in department change and acts as a change agent in areas of system changes, procedure changes and process changes.
*Ensures that departmental protocols and procedures are initiated appropriately; monitors appropriate compliance to all policies, procedures and practices performed by the counseling center.
*Ensures equitable distribution of patients based on acuity and staff competency.
*Facilitates continuity of care by facilitating appropriate transfer of patient care to next caregiver.
*Supports and role models effective communication to physicians, departmental staff and other departments and/or agencies; identifies medical staff needs for assistance and patient information.
*Assist the manager with staff performance appraisals assuring staff competence while emphasizing staff retention strategies through coaching and individual development.
*Monitors staffing levels on a daily basis and for the upcoming week; re-establishes priorities and re-assigns patient care as necessary during changes in workflow; communicates staffing issues with Manager or appropriate personnel.
*Makes rounds on patients throughout the shift to increase customer satisfaction and identify service recovery opportunities; investigates incidents and feedback issues with staff and assists in resolving any concerns with patient/family.
*Maintains familiarity with regulations and standards affecting the department (Insurance Authorization, EMTALA, and Joint Commission, etc.) and intervenes to prevent potential violations.
*Operationalizes the budget by adjusting staffing resources and assisting the Manager in meeting the department's financial goals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations. Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience required. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
