Health Services Specialist - School Nurse (LPN or CNA - Bilingual Preferred)

Our Early Head Start Program is looking for a great Health Services Specialist to provide onsite health services to children age birth to three.  If you are an LPN or CNA (bilingual preferred), this could be the perfect job for you!

In this position you would monitor the healh records and status of each student enrolled, making sure they have their immunizations, physicals, well baby exams, are receiving dental care and follow up with any identified special healh needs.  The Health Service Specialist also works with a team of administrators to develop and implement individual health plans and follow-up as needed.  Daily duties also include responding to dental health emergencies, medication administration, handling and storage, injury prevention and safety awareness, promoting hygiene and sanitation and making sure the first aid kits are stocked and accessable. 

Another important function is to work with Child Nutrition Services to identify children’s nutritional needs, make sure that meals provided meet all Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulatory requirements, and maintain current information on children with food allergies and provide substitutions according to their food allergy action plan.

Family involvement is another important part of our program so you would work with other team members and community partners to identify needs and provide health and nutrition information, training, community events and services to the community. 

As the Health Services Specialist you would be responsible for entering health data on each child.  You must have good Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel and Word skills as well as efficient and accurate Typing and Data Entry ability. You will also be responsible for preparing and submitting reports as required by State and Federal regulations and licensing. 

To be considered for this position you must be;

  • Certified as a CNA (LPN preferred)
  • Experienced in pediatrics or community health, preferred.
  • Passionate about working with low-income families and families with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Mobile and have your own personal transportation, as the job requires.
  • Able to lift, carry and move equipment and supplies.

  • Typical work schedule of 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
  • $18-24 per hour, based on experience
