After School Program Staff
The Afterschool Program staff must have experience and enjoy working with school aged children. Program staff are responsible for planning activities and working directly with students on a day to day basis and ensuring a safe environment for all children in the program. The program staff is responsible for ensuring that cultural diversity and educational programs are implemented. This position requires interacting with children and their families. Must be able to create an enriching environment that welcomes and embraces creativity, expression and addresses cognitive, physical, social, and emotional needs of the children. The program staff must establish and maintain rapport with teachers, parents, guardians and community partners.
This position is ideal for someone who is able to work in the afternoon and is creative, patient, flexible, child oriented, responsible and dedicated. Must be able to relate well to children and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the program's philosophy.
Treat all children with dignity and respect.
Help children establish good habits and leadership skills.
Attend all family night events.
Communicates and works closely with teachers.
Assists with dismissal procedures at the end of the day ensuring that each child is signed out and leaves with appropriate adult.
Greet parents and visitors.
Works with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
Participates in recommended and mandatory training, conferences and workshops to enhance professional growth.
Immediately reports any incidents or concerns to the Site Director.
Must have High School Diploma
Some College preferred (elementary education)
Must be available from 3:00pm - 6:30pm
Must have effective verbal and listening skills
Must have decision making ability
Must be flexible
Must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
Must have at least 1 year experience working with school aged children
